Genesis 19

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What did Lot’s heavenly visitors do when the men of Sodom tried to storm Lot’s house? What did they do when Lot hesitated in leaving, and why did they do it? What happened to Lot’s wife?

Do I thank God for His protection, even though I may not know when or how much I’ve been protected? Do I thank Him that, out of His love, He prompts me by His Spirit? Do I find myself looking back longingly at the world?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Dear God my Father, Thank You that even if a whole city were to attack me, You could easily stop them. Even though I walk through the valley of death i fear no evil because You are with me and You protect me! Thank You for moving Lot along when he hesitated for his own good. While I hope that I would not hesitate when I hear from You, I ask that You would do the same for me if I do. Please give me a heart that looks toward You, and not toward the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for Ontario…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

But an hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. Yes, the Father wants such people to worship Him. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. – John 4:23-24 (HCSB)
