Genesis 20

Though Abraham is often referred to as “the man of faith,” what did he do here that shows he was not acting in faith? How did God protect everyone concerned?

Do I trust God even when it seems “wise” not to? Do I consider the potential ramifications of my actions on others?

Dear Father, Thank You for protecting us, sometimes even in spite of ourselves! Like Abraham, I have made some bad decisions in my life that could have easily ended much worse than they did. Thank You for intervening on my behalf when I didn’t deserve it–which is what the cross itself is all about. Help me to trust You no matter what, and help me to consider my course of action and the repercussions that might include others’ lives as well as my own. I ask this for Jesus’ sake and in His name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luke)
  • Keith Rast
  • Andrea Rodriguez (Willie, Yulieta)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Rural towns in Treasure Valley – Emmett, Greenleaf, Homedale, Marsing, Middleton, New Plymouth, Parma, Payette, Wilder, Weiser, etc…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

But an hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. Yes, the Father wants such people to worship Him. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. – John 4:23-24 (HCSB)
