Genesis 34

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What happened to Jacob’s daughter? How did his sons exact revenge?

Do I cause other people grief because of my bad decisions and example? Do I leave vengeance up to God, or take it upon myself?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Lord, Like Lot before him, Jacob settled in n area with wicked people who did wicked things. as a result, his daughter was violated and his sons committed mass murder (using the rite of circumcision You had given as a sign of Your covenant!) in taking their revenge. Help me to make wiser decisions and to set a better example than Jacob did here. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Travis & Hali Davidson (Andrew)
  • Brian & Eileen Davis
  • Patti Doty

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for the poor & imprisoned

  • Salvation
  • That they will trust in God’s provision
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • That they will have hope
  • For godly mentors in the prison/jail system

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. According to His great mercy, He has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead – 1 Peter 1:3 (HCSB)
