Habakkuk 1

Observation

What is the situation that Habakkuk is bemoaning? What admission does he make (verse 12)?

Application

Do I sometimes grow weary of the rampant evil and seeming success of the wicked in the world? Do I remember that God is eternal and in charge?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Dear Father in heaven, It is sometimes easy for me to focus on all the crime, wickedness, and persecution of the godly in the world, and I forget to focus on you. Help me to remember that you are the Almighty Eternal One, and You have everything under control according to Your ultimate plan. Remind me that this life is not eternity, and that one day you will put all things right forever. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

But when the completion of the time came, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. – Galatians 4:4-5 (HCSB)
