What caused Jacob to be afraid? What was the gist of his prayer? What new name did God give him?

Do I go to God when I am afraid? Do I remember to thank Him for being so kind, faithful, and generous to me, even though I am totally unworthy? Do I lay my fears and anxieties at His feet?

Dear Father, remind me to turn to You when I am afraid, and to cast all my cares and anxieties on you, because You care for me. I thank you for being so kind and generous to me, although I certainly never have and never will deserve it, and for being faithful to me even when I have been unfaithful to You. May I live in Your light so that it shines through me and others can see Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz
  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luke)
  • Keith Rast
  • Andrea Rodriguez (Willie, Yulieta)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for marriages in our community…

  • that Christ-like love would be exhibited
  • for good communication between spouses
  • for unity in finances
  • salvation for non-believing spouses
  • that they would balance work and home life
  • that Godly friends and mentors would come alongside them.

Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. All of you, take up My yoke and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for yourselves. – Matthew 11:28-29 (HCSB)
