Why and for how long should we be patient? What should we do when we are sick or suffering?

Am I waiting patiently for the Lord’s coming? Do I believe in the power of prayer?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
LORD God, Help me to be patient and to strengthen my heart until Christ returns, remembering that the wicked will be defeated and those who were persecuted for Christ’s sake will be rewarded. In the meantime, teach me to be regular and disciplined in prayer. Remind me to pray for the sick and suffering, and when I am sick and suffering, call me to prayer. Help me to keep in mind that the intense prayer of the righteous is very powerful. And please don’t let me forget to sing Your praises. I praise You in Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Brandon & Lindsey Dockins
  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Joshua, Jonathan, Sophia)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for the elderly…

  • That they will be treated respectfully
  • That they will not dwell on mistakes and regret
  • That God will provide for their health and finances
  • That God will protect them from those who would try to harm them
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • Any broken family relationships restored before they pass on

Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He interpreted for them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures. – Luke 24:27 (HCSB)
