James 4

What does James say is the cause of his readers’ lack (2)? Of their unanswered prayer requests (3)? What are the keys to a close relationship with God (6-10)?

Do I bring my needs to God? Do I ask out of need or out of sinful desire? Do I come to Him humbly, submitting to Him, resisting the devil and my own sinful nature?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Lord, Thank You that You are my Great Provider. Remind me to bring my needs to You, submitting them to Your will. Help to resist sin and the devil and come to You in humility, that I might receive your grace and draw near to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Travis & Hali Davidson (Andrew)
  • Brian & Eileen Davis
  • Patti Doty

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for marriages in our community…

  • that Christ-like love would be exhibited
  • for good communication between spouses
  • for unity in finances
  • salvation for non-believing spouses
  • that they would balance work and home life
  • that Godly friends and mentors would come alongside them.

Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He interpreted for them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures. – Luke 24:27 (HCSB)
