Why is woe pronounced on the city (1-2)? How is the remnant of true followers of God described (12-13)? What promises does God make to that remnant (15-20)?

Do I more closely fit the description in verses 1-2 or in verses 12-13? Am I living like I believe that the days described at the end of this chapter are actually coming for the people of God?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Keep me faithful to You! Please keep me from a rebellious, defiled heart that is disobedient and does not accept discipline. May I ever trust in You and draw near to You! Give me a heart that is meek and lowly and that trusts in the name of Yahweh. I thank You and praise You that Jesus has removed my punishment and permanently defeated my enemy, Satan. I am so thankful that the Holy Spirit dwells within me, and so I need no longer fear harm. For my God is with me, a warrior who saves! It is amazing to think that You rejoice over me with gladness and delight in me with shouts of joy! Thank You for the quietness that comes with Your love. Thank You for gathering me into Your kingdom and Your family! In Jesus’ name, Amen

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for Mountain Home…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials
  • For the air base: safety for military and their families (especially those who are deployed), sound military strategies by commanders, impact for Christ in areas where deployed

The LORD your God is among you, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will bring you quietness with His love. He will delight in you with shouts of joy. – Zephaniah 3:17 (HCSB)
