Romans 16

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What do verses 1-16 teach us about the way we should treat our brothers and sisters in Christ? In contrast, how are we to treat those who call themselves born again believers, but cause division and promote false doctrine (17-18)?

Do I have the kind of affection for the family of God that Paul did? Do I avoid people who say they are believers, but cause division and promote false teaching?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Dear Father, Make me wise about what is good, yet innocent about what is evil. Give me an affection and love for Your people like Paul had for the Roman Christians. When those who call themselves brothers come in and cause division and dissension, creating pitfalls contrary to sound biblical doctrine, remind me to avoid them, for such people do not serve Christ but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattering words they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting. I thank You that You will soon crush Satan under our feet. Now to You who has power to strengthen me according to the gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the sacred secret kept silent for long ages, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic Scriptures, according to Your command to advance the obedience of faith among all nations–to You, the only wise God, through Jesus Christ–to You be the glory forever! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Joe & Sheala Lehosit
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael Morgan

  • Provenance
  • Genesis World Mission

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for Mountain Home…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials
  • For the air base: safety for military and their families (especially those who are deployed), sound military strategies by commanders, impact for Christ in areas where deployed

The LORD your God is among you, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will bring you quietness with His love. He will delight in you with shouts of joy. – Zephaniah 3:17 (HCSB)
