Observation
This chapter begins with “on the third day”–the third day of what, and why is that significant? Why did Hamaan leave in good spirits, and what infuriated him on his way home? What did he boast about and what new scheme did he plan?
Application
Do I spend time preparing in God’s presence before a big decision or mission? Do I allow my pride and ego to dictate my life and moods? Do I boast about myself and plot against others?
Prayer
Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, I pray that I would be like Esther, who fasted for three days before she acted. Help me to make seeking You a priority in my life! I pray that I would not be like Hamman, whose pride, ego, and desire for recognition took precedence over everything in his life, and who plotted schemes and desired to crush anyone who did not give him the homage he felt he deserved. Instead, I humble my heart before You, asking that you would show me where I need to submit more fully to You. help me to love my enemies just as you loved me. In the name of Jesus, Amen
Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:
- B – BODY (physical health)
- L – Labor (their job or school)
- E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
- S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
- S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)
Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:
- Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
- Deborah Halkola
- David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
- Bob & Peggy Hoover
Ministry:
- Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing
CLF:
- Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Try to do what is honorable in everyone’s eyes. If possible, on your part, live at peace with everyone. – Romans 12:17-18 (HCSB)
