Observation

How can we distinguish lies (false doctrine) from the truth?

Application

Am I on my guard against false doctrine–do I study God’s word and ask the holy Spirit to teach me?

Prayer

Dear Father, It is the last hour, and just as you said that the antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have appeared. We know from this that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us, because if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. But they went out from us to demonstrate that all of them do not belong to us. Nevertheless thank You that I have an anointing from Your Holy Spirit, who gives me knowledge. Thank You for revealing Your truth through Your Word and Your Spirit so that I can know it, and that no lie is of the truth. Who is the liar but the person who denies that Jesus is the Christ? Your word teaches that this one is the antichrist: the person who denies the Father and the Son. Everyone who denies the Son does not have the Father either. The person who confesses the Son has the Father also. As for me, I ask that what I have heard from the beginning will remain in me so that I also will remain in the Son and in You, Father. Thank you for the promise that You Yourself made to us: eternal life. So please keep me from being deceived. Thank You that the anointing that I received from You resides in me and that Your Spirit teaches me about all things; He is true and is not a lie. Just as He has taught me, I reside in Him. And now, help me to remain in Him, so that when Christ appears I may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame when He comes back. I know that You are righteous, and I also know that everyone who practices righteousness has been fathered by You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz
  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luke)
  • Keith Rast
  • Andrea Rodriguez (Willie, Yulieta)

Ministry:

  • Boise Rescue Mission

CLF:

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for teens and young adults (middle school through college age) in our community

  • For Godly influences and teachers
  • For safety and protection from accidents, abuse, and predators
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For a heart to learn and to know God
  • That they will not be prodigals, but remain true to God all the days of their lives
  • That they would turn to God to fill every need, not to addictive substances and behaviors
  • Respect for parents and other authority

MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. – 2 Peter 3:18(HCSB)
