Psalm 85

What attributes of God are praised in this psalm?

Do I rest in the knowledge that God is a God of faithful love, grace, and forgiveness, who provides what is good for His people?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, You took away Your people’s guilt; You covered all their sin. You withdrew all Your fury; You turned from Your burning anger. Revive us again so that Your people may rejoice in You. Show us Your faithful love, LORD, and give us Your salvation. I will listen to what You say. You have declared peace to Your people, Your godly ones, and will not let them go back to foolish ways. Your salvation is very near those who fear You, so that glory may dwell in our land. Faithful love and truth will join together; righteousness and peace will embrace. Truth will spring up from the earth, and righteousness will look down from heaven. Also, You will provide what is good, and our land will yield its crops. Righteousness will go before You to prepare the way for Your steps. Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for the elderly…

  • That they will be treated respectfully
  • That they will not dwell on mistakes and regret
  • That God will provide for their health and finances
  • That God will protect them from those who would try to harm them
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • Any broken family relationships restored before they pass on

Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. – 1 Corinthians 13:13 (HCSB)
