Observation
What is the psalmist’s prayer (18)? To what end (27-29)?
Application
When I read the Bible, do I first ask God to open my eyes to see wonderful things from His Word? Do I ask for understanding so that I can meditate on His wonders, be strengthened, and instructed so as to avoid being deceived?
Prayer
Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, Open my eyes so that I may see wonderful things in Your Word. Help me understand the meaning of Your precepts so that I can meditate on Your wonders. Strengthen me through Your word. Keep me from the way of deceit, and graciously give me Your instruction. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:
- B – BODY (physical health)
- L – Labor (their job or school)
- E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
- S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
- S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)
Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:
- Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
- Deborah Halkola
- David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
- Bob & Peggy Hoover
Ministry:
- Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing
Operation Christmas Child:
- Pray that the boxes will open doors for children to hear the Good News in parts of the world that are typically closed to proclaiming the Gospel.
CLF:
- Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.
Community: Pray for Nampa
- That city leaders would submit to God
- That people can find and keep gainful employment
- For sound financial management by city officials
- Salvation for unbelievers
- For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials
MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Acknowledge that the LORD is God. He made us, and we are His–His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the LORD is good, and His love is eternal; His faithfulness endures through all generations. – Psalm 100:3-5 (HCSB)
