Observation
What is the main thrust the first half of this psalm? Of the second half?
Application
Do I give glory to God and renounce anything that sets itself over and against Him? Do I trust in Him alone to bless, protect, and provide?
Prayer
Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, Not to us, LORD, not to us, but to Your name give glory because of Your faithful love, because of Your truth. Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” You are in heaven and do whatever You please. There is no other god, and anything that takes Your place in the lives of men is worthless. I trust in You, LORD! You are my help and shield. You will bless those who fear You–small and great alike. You are the Maker of heaven and earth and everything in them, and I trust in You and I praise you, both now forever. Hallelujah! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:
- B – BODY (physical health)
- L – Labor (their job or school)
- E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
- S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
- S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)
Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:
- Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
- Deborah Halkola
- David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
- Bob & Peggy Hoover
Ministry:
- Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing
Operation Christmas Child:
- Pray that the boxes will open doors for children to hear the Good News in parts of the world that are typically closed to proclaiming the Gospel.
CLF:
- Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.
Community: Pray for our state leaders…
- Governor & his advisers
- Judges
- state senators and representatives
- that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
- that they would submit themselves to God
MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
LORD, I have heard the report about You; LORD, I stand in awe of Your deeds. Revive Your work in these years; make it known in these years. In Your wrath remember mercy! – Habakkuk 3:2 (HCSB)
