Psalm 116

What did God do for the psalmist? What did the psalmist do in return?

In what ways has God heard my cry and delivered me over the course of my life? Do I give Him thanks, glory, obedience, and worship?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

LORD my God, I love You, because You heard my appeal for mercy, and so I will call out to you as long as I live. When I encountered trouble and sorrow, I called on You to save me. You are gracious and righteous; You are compassionate. You guard the inexperienced; I was helpless, and You saved me. Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you. For You, LORD, rescued me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. I will walk before You in the land of the living. I believed, even when I said, “I am severely afflicted.” In my alarm I said, “Everyone is a liar.” How can I repay You for all the good You have done for me? I will take the cup of salvation and worship You. I will fulfill my vows to You in the presence of all Your people. The death of Your faithful ones is valuable in Your sight. LORD, I am indeed Your servant. You have loosened my bonds. I will offer You a sacrifice of thanksgiving and will worship You. Hallelujah! Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Darrell & Fralina Leatham
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)

  • Genesis World Mission

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray for the children who enroll in “The Greatest Journey” follow-up discipleship program, that they will come to faith in Jesus and tell their friends and family about Jesus.

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for County leaders…

  • Commissioners, Assessor, Coroner, Treasurer, Clerks, Judges, Prosecutors, Defenders, Sheriffs
  • that they would make sound financial decisions
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

LORD, I have heard the report about You; LORD, I stand in awe of Your deeds. Revive Your work in these years; make it known in these years. In Your wrath remember mercy! – Habakkuk 3:2 (HCSB)
