Observation
Why does the psalmist say it was good for him to be afflicted? What does he say will cause those who see him to rejoice?
Application
Do I use affliction as an opportunity to draw closer to God and His word? Do I put my hope in God’s word?
Prayer
Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, I ask that affliction will will cause me to delight in Your word and to be sensitive to it and learn it and trust it more deeply. Instruction from Your lips is better for me than thousands of gold and silver pieces. Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding so that I can learn Your commands. May those who fear You see me and rejoice, for I put my hope in Your word. May Your faithful love comfort me, as You promised, and may Your compassion come to me so that I may live, for Your instruction is my delight. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Acknowledge that the LORD is God. He made us, and we are His–His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the LORD is good, and His love is eternal; His faithfulness endures through all generations. – Psalm 100:3-5 (HCSB)
