What gives light and understanding? How do we know we can trust God’s promises (138,140,142)?

Do I take time to study the words God has so graciously given so that I can have light and understanding? Do I stop to consider that God is eternal and all-powerful, and His promises have been thoroughly tested–that HE is utterly trustworthy?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Father God, Your word is wonderful! Give me a heart and will that long to obey it. The revelation of Your words brings light and gives understanding to the inexperienced. Give me a heart like the psalmist, that pants with open mouth because I long for Your words. Turn to me and be gracious to me, as is Your practice toward those who love Your name. Make my steps steady through Your promise; don’t let sin dominate me. Redeem me from human oppression, and strengthen me to keep Your precepts. Show favor to Your servant, and teach me Your ways. You are righteous, LORD, and Your judgments are just. The decrees You issue are righteous and altogether trustworthy. Your promises have been thoroughly tested, Your word is completely pure, and Your servant loves it. Your righteousness is everlasting and Your instruction is true. Trouble and distress may overtake me, but Your word is my delight. Give me understanding, that I will live and glorify You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Darrell & Fralina Leatham
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)

  • Genesis World Mission

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray for the children who enroll in “The Greatest Journey” follow-up discipleship program, that they will come to faith in Jesus and tell their friends and family about Jesus.

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for Teachers & Administrators & School Boards

  • Godly curriculum
  • God’s wisdom in teaching and leading
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • Ability to inspire a love of truth and learning

To Him who loves us and has set us free from our sins by His blood, and made us a kingdom, priests to His God and Father–to Him be the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. – Revelation 1:5b-6 (HCSB)
