Observation
For what does the psalmist praise God (3-5)? In what is he confident (6-13)?
Application
Spend some time praising God for his steadfast love, faithfulness, and glory, and ask him to help you trust in Him for provision and protection.
Prayer
Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father God, I will praise You, LORD, among the peoples; I will sing praises to You among the nations. For Your faithful love is higher than the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches the clouds. God, be exalted above the heavens; let Your glory be over the whole earth. As our nation votes for our leaders today, give us aid against the foes of abortion, homosexuality, opposition to Israel, and the attempt to remove You from our culture. Help us to vote our values as Your Spirit leads, but to trust only in You, for human help is worthless. With You we will perform valiantly; You will trample our foes. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen
Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:
- B – BODY (physical health)
- L – Labor (their job or school)
- E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
- S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
- S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)
Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:
- Ken & Twilla Eden (Mattea, Joseph, Joshua, Jonathan, Sophia)
- Gil & Lois Estes
- Gary Friend
- Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)
Missionaries:
- J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria
Operation Christmas Child:
- Pray that God will use Operation Christmas Child to bring joy to boys and girls who are facing poverty, sickness, or war.
CLF:
- Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.
Community: Pray for the relationship between generations–parents, children, grandparents
- That the true Christian faith of older generation would be clearly communicated and passed down to children
- That saved children in unsaved families would clearly exhibit and communicate the faith to their parents and grandparents
- A harvest of souls of all ages
- Good, nurturing relationships
MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. – Hebrews 10:23-25 (HCSB)
