Luke 1:1-38

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What did Luke write this book? What important event is reported in verses 5-25? In 26-38?

Do I take time to study this gospel–as well as the rest of Scripture–“so that I may know the certainty of the things about which I have been instructed”? Do I respond to God’s message more like Zechariah–with fear and doubt–or like Mary–while not fully understanding, humbly, with belief and obedience?

Dear Father, Thank You for Your word, which gives instruction in Your ways and which is the standard against which all teaching, preaching, and doctrine must be measured. Help me never to waver from it. May I spend time reading and studying it. As You speak to me through it, I know I will not always fully understand it, but help me to submit to it and believe it and obey it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Michael Morgan
  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz
  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luke)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray for the National Leadership Team volunteers who work with local churches to distribute the shoe boxes and to implement “The Greatest Journey.”

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for Nampa

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

The LORD your God is among you, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will bring you quietness with His love. He will delight in you with shouts of joy. – Zephaniah 3:17 (HCSB)
