Psalm 124-127

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What preserves and protects us (124)? What is required for this to happen (125:1)? What promise do those who trust in God have (126:5-6)? Why is important to make sure that we are working on the Lord’s plans and not our own (127:1)?

Do I give God the credit, glory, and thanks for His protection and provision? Do I have an unshakable trust in Him? Do I keep in mind that even though I may “sow with tears” in this life, I will “reap with shouts of joy” in the next? Am I careful to make sure I am about the Lord’s work, so that my labor is not in vain?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, If it weren’t for You, I would never survive this life and I would be doomed to eternal condemnation. My help is in Your name, LORD, for You are the Maker of heaven and earth. Give me a trust in You that remains forever and cannot be shaken, for You surround Your people, both now and forever. When I start to lose hope, remind me that those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy, and though one goes along weeping, carrying the bag of seed, he will surely come back with shouts of joy, carrying his sheaves. Keep me from going off on my own efforts and missions, because unless You build the house, its builders labor over it in vain; unless You watch over a city, the watchman stays alert in vain. Thank, You, Father! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray that the boxes will open doors for children to hear the Good News in parts of the world that are typically closed to proclaiming the Gospel.

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for the salvation of the lost

  • Readiness to repent
  • Hearts prepared to hear God’s voice
  • Deep dissatisfaction and unrest with life without Him
  • Godly influences

Why am I so depressed? Why this turmoil within me? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise Him, my Savior and my God. – Psalm 42:11 (HCSB)
