1 Corinthians 2

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What was Paul determined to know and teach? Why don’t unbelievers welcome biblical teaching?

Do I determine to know and make known the message of the cross of Jesus Christ? Do I seek and thank God for the Holy Spirit’s illumination of Scripture?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, Give me a heart like Paul’s, that is determined to know and make known the message of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Help me to remember that in and of myself, I am hopelessly lost and would never be able to understand the gospel or Your Word. Thank You for the Holy Spirit’s teaching. May my mind, eyes, and heart be open to His illumination of Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover
  • Fred & Gwen Iovine
  • Pat & Hannah Kelley

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for outreaches & service projects

  • Creative strategies
  • Volunteers
  • Anointing of the Holy Spirit
  • Believers working together in unity
  • Provision of necessary resources
  • Salvation for people reached

God has chosen the world’s foolish things to shame the wise, and God has chosen the world’s weak things to shame the strong. – 1 Corinthians 1:27 (HCSB)
