What is Paul’s instruction regarding prayer (1-8) and the roles of the sexes (9-15)?

Is prayer a high priority in my life? Do I follow the biblical standard for the roles of men and women in my personal life, my home life, my church life?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father, May I be a person of prayer! Remind me to be in prayer and thanksgiving for everyone, including leaders at all levels, so that I may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. I thank You for my mediator, Jesus Christ, who gave Himself as a ransom for all at the proper time. May I always been in an attitude of prayer in every place, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument. May I always obey Your Word, even when everything in the world contradicts it, such as in gender roles. Help me to follow Your will, and to always treat people of the opposite sex with great respect and honor. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Theresa Daniels
  • Brandon & Lindsey Dockins
  • Patti Doty
  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Mattea, Joseph, Joshua, Sophia, Jonathan)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for Media Industries (TV/Movies, Radio/Music, Print/Internet)

  • Godly themes/influences
  • Christian workers at all levels sensitive to God’s leading
  • Salvation for influential media leaders
  • Courage to share God’s message
  • Financial rewards for wholesome media

instruct certain people not to teach different doctrine or to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies. These promote empty speculations rather than God’s plan, which operates by faith. – 1 Timothy 1:3b-4 (HCSB)
