How are we supposed to respond to people–especially those who call themselves Christians and Christian leaders–who do not teach or live according to Scripture? How should we expect to be treated if we want to live for Christ? What should we cling to and why?

Do I disassociate with false teachers and those who place claim to belong to Christ but continue in sinful behavior? Do I understand that I will be persecuted if I want to live for Jesus? Do I continually train myself in God’s Inspired Word?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father, I pray that you would strengthen me to have nothing to do with those who claim to be Yours and yet are lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to the form of godliness but denying its power–and especially with those who teach others these things! Help me to remember that all those who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, and do not let that dissuade me from continuing in Him. May I continue in what I have learned and firmly believed–Your Word, the sacred Scriptures, which are able to give wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. I thank You and believe that all Scripture is inspired by You and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that I may be complete, equipped for every good work. Help me to remain in Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)
  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola
  • Robin & Florence Henderson

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for the salvation of the lost

  • Readiness to repent
  • Hearts prepared to hear God’s voice
  • Deep dissatisfaction and unrest with life without Him
  • Godly influences

Your heart must not be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. – John 14:1 (HCSB)
