Matthew 13

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What is the main point of each of the parables of the sower, the wheat and weeds, the mustard seed, the yeast, the hidden treasure, and the fishing net? Why didn’t Jesus do many miracles in His hometown?

Does verse 52 apply to me? Would Jesus have done many miracles in my home?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Father God, I thank You for the parables that Jesus used to teach about Your kingdom. help me to be a student of Your Word who receives it and responds to it, that it may flourish in my heart and impact everyone around me. May I have the kind of faith in Christ that never impedes His work. I ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Darrell & Fralina Leatham
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Tris & Chris Miller
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael & Jenn Morgan

  • Genesis World Mission

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for Nampa

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

Although I am a free man and not anyone’s slave, I have made myself a slave to everyone, in order to win more people. – 1 Corinthians 9:19 (HCSB)
