Matthew 8:1-17

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

How did the man with a skin disease show his faith? How about the centurion? Why did Jesus perform miracles like these (16-17)?

Do I believe that Jesus can do anything He is willing to do? Do I believe he can do that even “long distance,” like He did for the centurion’s servant? Do I thank Him and praise Him for who He is and what He has done?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father, Give me faith like the man with skin disease and the centurion! Help me to trust and believe in You, and to ask according to Your will. I praise You as the God who always fulfills His word, and as the God who has all power and strength. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)
  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola
  • Robin & Florence Henderson

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for the poor & imprisoned

  • Salvation
  • That they will trust in God’s provision
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • That they will have hope
  • For godly mentors in the prison/jail system

But be careful that this right of yours in no way becomes a stumbling block to the weak. – 1 Corinthians 8:9 (HCSB)
