How are Paul’s sufferings and Christ’s sufferings related to the Corinthians? What is Paul’s boast? Why did he write his letters to Corinth?

Why should I and how am I able to give comfort to others? Am I more concerned with living according to worldly wisdom or God’s grace? Is there someone I need to forgive and comfort? Am I acting intentionally in that regard?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your grace and peace, Your compassion and comfort. You comfort me in all my troubles so that I can comfort others with the same comfort I’ve received from You. Just as Christ’s sufferings flow into my life, so through Christ my comfort overflows. Help me to use the difficult circumstances You allow in my life as training and experience to draw from in comforting others, and so may I endure them patiently. I set my hope on You, believing that You will continue to deliver me, and that You will do the same for other believers. Remind me to help them by praying for them. And we  will give You many thanks and all the glory for answering our prayers. May I never boast in myself nor in worldly wisdom, but only in You. Help me to conduct myself at all times in the holiness and sincerity that comes from You. I thank You that all of Your promises are “Yes” in Jesus, to Your glory. It is You who makes me stand firm in Christ. You anointed me, You set Your seal of ownership on me, and You put Your Spirit in my heart as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. I ask that if anyone causes me grief, I would forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. May I ever forgive and reaffirm my love for brothers and sisters who have wronged me, in order that Satan may not outwit us. Thanks be to You, God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him. You have made me the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the latter it is the smell of death, and to the former the fragrance of life. I am not equal to such a task–it is You who works in me and through me for Your good purpose. May I ever remember that I am sent by You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz
  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luc)
  • Keith Rast

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for the poor & imprisoned

  • Salvation
  • That they will trust in God’s provision
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • That they will have hope
  • For godly mentors in the prison/jail system

And the King will answer them, ‘I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’ – Matthew 25:40 (HCSB)
