Acts 16

Why didn’t Paul and company preach in Asia, and where was God calling them to preach instead? Why do you suppose God would keep them from going to one place and call them to another one? Why were Paul and Silas cast in prison, how did they respond, and what was the result?

Do I ever try to “force” ministry? Do I consider that perhaps I am trying to minister where God isn’t calling me, and neglecting to do so where He is calling me? When treated unfairly, how do I typically respond, and what are the results? In what ways do I need to change that?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for godly mothers. I ask that You would empower every mother who loves You to raise their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, as Timothy’s mother did. Keep those children true to You into their adult years, so that they may train their children to do the same.

Father, help me to recognize when You close doors for ministry and when You open them. Make me sensitive and obedient to the Spirit’s leading. And help me to see that even unfair accusations and undeserved persecution are opportunities for ministry. Instead of complaining in those situations, help me to remember to praise You anyway as Paul and Silas did when they were thrown in jail unjustly. And just as You did for the jailer and His family, may You bring others to Your Son as a result of my faithfulness and trust in You. Use me, Lord, however You want, wherever You want, whenever You want. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Chris & DeAnn Smith (Sasha, Noah, Gavin, Natalie)
  • Ross & Christy Stoltey (Spencer, Garrett, Conner, Katie, Grace)
  • Brandi Taylor
  • Sree Yalamanchili
  • Jason & Danielle Youngblood (Kayla, Kendra)

  • Chapel Mission India

  • Jenn Austring
  • Amy Brueggemann
  • Debbie Brueggemann

  • Provenance

  • That we will be devoted to evangelism and growth; that the Lord will add to our numbers those who are being saved.

Community: Pray for the poor & imprisoned

  • That they will have hope
  • For godly mentors in the prison/jail system

Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different ministries, but the same Lord. And there are different activities, but the same God activates each gift in each person. – 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 (HCSB)
