Acts 24

How does Paul defend himself against the accusations filed against him? What is the difference between being a true Christian and being “well acquainted with the Way”?

How can I apply the way Paul defended himself to the way I respond when people treat me unfairly and make unjust accusations against me? Am I a true Christian or just “well acquainted with the Way”–having a knowledge of Christ but not having a transformed life?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father God, in this passage we see all sorts of misinformation and false statements levied against Paul. And yet, he simply calmly stated his case and used it as an opportunity to share the Gospel. Lord, remind me of this when I find myself being treated unjustly, and help me to respond in kind. I, too, declare that I worship the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and that I am a follower of the Way of Christ. I believe everything that agrees with the Law and that is written in the Prophets, and my hope is in You, that there will be a resurrection from the dead. Help me to keep a clear conscience before God and man. May I never be satisfied in just knowing about You, Lord, but instill in me a hunger to know You more with each passing day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)
  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for Nampa

I pray that your participation in the faith may become effective through knowing every good thing that is in us for the glory of Christ. – Philemon 6 (HCSB)
