What was Paul’s relationship with Priscilla and Aquila? What was Priscilla and Aquila’s relationship with Apollos?

What mentors have I had that have positively impacted my life for Christ? Have I thanked them lately? Have I thanked God for them? If they are no longer living, do I thank God for their influence on my life while they were living? Is there someone I am mentoring? If not, have I been praying for God to give me someone?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear God my Father, the progression of godly relationships we see in this chapter is inspiring and encouraging. Thank you for people like Priscilla and Aquila, who work behind the scenes helping others to minister. Thank you for their support of Paul, and for their support of Apollos. Father, may I take the things I have learned from others and pass them along to those who are younger in the faith. Bring the people into my life that You would have instruct me, and also, I pray, bring me people that You would have me instruct, who may then pass along what they have learned. Lord, we see in this chapter that Paul finally came to a point where the abuse of the Jews caused him to move on to minister to other people. Help me not to give up on trying to reach people too quickly, but when it is time to move on to someone who will be more receptive, please make that clear to me. May I be both an effective minister in the areas where You lead me, as well as supportive and encouraging to others who minister in different ways. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)
  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for our state leaders…

  • Governor & his advisers
  • Judges
  • state senators and representatives
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

Therefore, be imitators of God, as dearly loved children. And walk in love, as the Messiah also loved us and gave Himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God. – Ephesians 5:1-2 (HCSB)
