Acts 10

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What does the story of Cornelius teach us about those who earnestly seek God and try to please Him? What is the main point of Peter’s sermon? Why is this story to important to the scope of the entire New Testament?

Would other people describe me as a “devout and God-fearing” Christian? Do I let any personal prejudices get in the way of sharing the gospel and praying for the lost to come to Christ? Have I told God lately that I am grateful for The Gospel being offered to Gentiles, and does my life display that gratitude?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You that if we seek You we will find You, if we seek with all of our hearts. Like Philip to the Ethiopian Eunuch in chapter 8, thank You for bringing Peter to Cornelius to share Your Gospel, showing that You reach out and save all who receive Jesus. Lord, like Peter, sometimes my own prejudices and assumptions get in the way of what You want. Help me to pray for the lost of all nationalities and ethnic backgrounds, and give me a heart of compassion that longs to see them come to You, just as You do. Thank You for offering salvation to all, not just the Jews, and for saving me and giving me Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Chris & DeAnn Smith (Sasha, Noah, Gavin, Natalie)
  • Ross & Christy Stoltey (Spencer, Garrett, Conner, Katie, Grace)
  • Brandi Taylor
  • Sree Yalamanchili
  • Jason & Danielle Youngblood (Kayla, Kendra)
