1 Samuel 15

What was Saul commanded to do? What did he do? What was the result?

Do I respond to God and those He has put in authority over me with “partial obedience”? Do I then try to justify my disobedience and turn it into good? If I typically respond in this way, will it take something drastic to change my ways, or will I humble myself before God has to humble me?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father, Give me a heart of obedience that doesn’t try to cut corners or justify my sin. May I humble myself before You so that You won’t have to take some drastic measure to get my attention. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Robin & Florence Henderson
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover
  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Darrell & Fralina Leatham

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for the poor & imprisoned

  • Salvation
  • That they will trust in God’s provision
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • That they will have hope
  • For godly mentors in the prison/jail system

For the grace of God has appeared with salvation for all people, instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age, while we wait for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. – Titus 2:11-13 (HCSB)
