1 Samuel 23

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

How did David display his trust in God? How did God reward that trust? How did David answer King Saul’s queries? How did Jonathan show his heart for God and for David? How did God use even the enemies of Israel to serve His purpose and protect David?

Do I have more concern for my personal safety than for obeying and bringing glory to God? Do I trust God to protect and reward me? Do I encourage others and show them the love of Christ when they are facing difficulties? Do I believe God is sovereign and can use even the schemes of His enemies to work out His purpose?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father, May I have the courage of David to obey You and fight the good fight, trusting You to protect and reward as You see fit. May I have the compassion and humility of Jonathan, looking out for the interests of others above my own and encouraging them when they are facing trials of all kinds. And may I ever trust in You as the Sovereign King of the universe, who always has everything under control, even to the point of being able to use attacks of the enemy for the good of those who are faithful to You. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
