1 Samuel 11

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What happened to Saul when he heard the threat of Nahash the Ammonite (6)? What did he do (7-11)? Where did Saul lay the credit for the victory (13)?

When I get angry, is it because of my selfish pride or righteous indignation? Do I take godly action when required, even if it could be dangerous? Do I trust God and give him the glory?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father, When the enemy attacks Your people and Your reputation, may I have righteous anger–not selfish, fleshly anger–and may I respond and take action as Your spirit directs me without regard for my personal comfort or safety. Like Saul in this chapter, may I never forget to credit You with the victory. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz
  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luc)
  • Keith Rast
  • Travis & Consuela Sauer (Mikayla, Christian, Donte, Cheyenne, Sera, Ella, Thomas)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for single adults…

  • To embrace Christ as their best friend and lover of their souls
  • To more fully grasp the family heart of God
  • That God will bring them Godly friends to care for and support them
  • That God will give them a peace and drive away lonliness
  • That God will provide them with meaningful work & ministry in which to use their gifts

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God. – 3 John 11 (HCSB)
