How was Jesus made lower than the angels? Why did He have to become like us?

Do I understand and implement in my life Jesus as brother, author of salvation, and high priest?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord Jesus, Grant that I would never forget to pay careful attention to what You have done for me and what You continue to teach me from Your Word through Your Spirit. I thank You that, though You were equal with God in every way, and everything was subjected to You, still You made Yourself subject to save us. While we do not yet see everything subjected to You, we do see that you allowed Yourself to be made lower than the angels for a short time so that by God’s grace You might taste death for everyone—crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death. For it was fitting, in bringing many sons to glory, that You, for whom and through whom all things exist, should make the source of our salvation perfect through sufferings. For the One who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one Father. That is why You are not ashamed to call us brothers, saying: “I will proclaim Your name to My brothers; I will sing hymns to You in the congregation.” Again, “I will trust in Him.” And again, “Here I am with the children God gave Me.” Thank You that, since we all have flesh and blood in common, You also shared in these, so that through Your death You might destroy the one holding the power of death—that is, the Devil-and free us who were held in slavery all our lives by the fear of death. For it is clear that You do not reach out to help angels, but to help mere humans. Therefore You became like us in every way, so that You could become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For since You Yourself were tested and have suffered, You are able to help those who are tested. Thank You, Lord Jesus! Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Theresa Daniels
  • Travis & Hali Davidson (Andrew, Maddy)
  • Brandon & Lindsey Dockins
  • Patti Doty
  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Mattea, Joseph, Joshua, Sophia, Jonathan)

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for County leaders…

  • Commissioners, Assessor, Coroner, Treasurer, Clerks, Judges, Prosecutors, Defenders, Sheriffs
  • that they would make sound financial decisions
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

So, you too consider yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, so that you obey its desires. And do not offer any parts of it to sin as weapons for unrighteousness. But as those who are alive from the dead, offer yourselves to God, and all the parts of yourselves to God as weapons for righteousness. For sin will not rule over you, because you are not under law but under grace. – Romans 6:11-14 (HCSB)
