2 Corinthians 4

How does Paul share his faith? What reason does he give for people who don’t respond to it? What keeps him going through difficult times?

What can I apply from this passage regarding the way I share the Gospel with people? How does God’s power reflect Jesus’ life in the struggles I go through?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord God, Help me never to lose heart in sharing Your love and grace. May I never stoop to shameful or deceptive methods or distort the message, but always set forth the truth of Your Word plainly with a clear conscience. Help me to realize that if the Gospel is veiled to listeners, it is because they are perishing and Satan has blinded them so they cannot see its light and the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. May I never preach myself, but only that Jesus Christ is Lord, and may I be a servant to the lost for Jesus’ sake. You said, “Let the light shine out of darkness,” and You made Your light shine in my heart, giving me the knowledge of Your glory in the face of Christ. Somehow You allow me, a mere jar of clay–with cracks and broken in some places–to store this treasure, showing that this all-surpassing power is from You and not from me. Though I may be hard-pressed on every side, I am not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. With the Spirit of faith, I declare that I believe–help me to speak boldly for You, because I know that You raised Jesus from the dead and will also raise me to be in Your presence. May Your grace continue to reach more and more people, causing thanksgiving to overflow to Your glory. Therefore, I will not lose heart, for though outwardly I am wasting away, yet inwardly You are renewing me day by day. My light and momentary troubles are far outweighed by the glory of eternity with You. So strengthen me to fix my eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Tris & Chris Miller
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael & Jenn Morgan

  • Genesis World Mission

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Treasure Valley Churches – For elders, deacons, workers (volunteer and paid), and their families

  • Encouragement
  • Marriages/families
  • Finances
  • Work/life balance
  • Relationships, good friendships

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—making the most of the time, because the days are evil. So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. ~Ephesians 5:15-17 (HCSB)
