2 Corinthians 6:3-7:16

Why does Paul make such a long list showing how his ministry is authentic? Why was Paul glad he wrote his first letter to the Corinthians?

Does my witness and ministry withstand difficulties such as those Paul listed? Even though confrontation is awkward and unpleasant, am I willing to confront and to be confronted for the purposes of correction and spiritual growth?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord, as I read of all the things Paul went through for the sake of the gospel, I am both inspired and convicted. Help me to commend myself as Your authentic follower, regardless of my circumstances or the trial and persecution it might bring. Enable me to open my heart wide to other believers. I ask that You would keep me from “yoking” myself with unbelievers–attaching myself to their lifestyle and moving with them toward their goal. Rather, may I ever yoke myself only with Christ and His committed disciples. Show me how to purify myself from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for You. I pray that I would wrong no one, corrupt no one, and exploit no one. Give me a heart that is willing to live or die with my siblings in Christ. May other believers be able to take great pride in me and be encouraged by me. Sometimes it is necessary to confront other believers or for them to confront me. Though it may very well hurt–at least for a little while–help me to give and receive rebuke when it is warranted; not just to cause sorrow, but so that godly sorrow will bring repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret. I ask this in the Name of Jesus, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Chris & DeAnn Smith (Sasha, Noah, Gavin, Natalie)
  • Ross & Christy Stoltey (Spencer, Garrett, Conner, Katie, Grace)
  • Brandi Taylor
  • Sree Yalamanchili
  • Jason & Danielle Youngblood (Kayla, Kendra)

  • Chapel Mission India

  • That we would be devoted to thanksgiving and praise to our Lord–for what He has done, for what He is doing, for what He will do, and for who He is–in good times and bad.

  • Jenn Austring
  • Amy Brueggemann
  • Debbie Brueggemann
  • Chris Carlton
  • Mike Daniels

  • Provenance

  • That we will be devoted to evangelism and growth; that the Lord will add to our numbers those who are being saved.

Community: Pray for single adults…

  • To embrace Christ as their best friend and lover of their souls
  • To more fully grasp the family heart of God
  • That God will bring them Godly friends to care for and support them
  • That God will give them a peace and drive away lonliness
  • That God will provide them with meaningful work & ministry in which to use their gifts

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—making the most of the time, because the days are evil. So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. ~Ephesians 5:15-17 (HCSB)
