Mark 7:1-30

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

For what did Jesus rebuke the Pharisees (6-8)? What did He teach about being “defiled”?

Do I sometimes place human tradition on a level with God’s Word? Am I more concerned with the appearance of godliness than with a heart that follows after God?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord God, I never want to be someone that honors You with my lips while my heart is far from You. Help me never to set the traditions of humans anywhere near the level of Your holy and eternal Word. May I always be more concerned with the state of my heart than with outward appearances. I ask this in the Name of the Lord Jesus, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Tris & Chris Miller
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael & Jenn Morgan

  • Genesis World Mission

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for County leaders…

  • Commissioners, Assessor, Coroner, Treasurer, Clerks, Judges, Prosecutors, Defenders, Sheriffs
  • that they would make sound financial decisions
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)
