Hebrews 13:1-14

How is the follower of Christ to live? How does this passage speak to those who say they have a “new” revelation about Jesus?

Am I living a life like that described in today’s passage? Do I hold fast to the biblical revelation of an unchanging Jesus, or am I easily swept away by winds of doctrine?

Father God, Let Your love flow through me and grant that I would continually show Your love to others. Help me not to neglect hospitality, because through it some have entertained angels without knowing it. Help me remember those in prison as though I were in prison with them, and those ill-treated as though I too felt their torment. May the marriages of your people be honored among all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for You will judge sexually immoral people and adulterers. Strengthen me to keep my conduct free from the love of money and to be content with what I have, for You have said, “I will never leave you and I will never abandon you.” So I can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, and  I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” Help me remember my leaders, who spoke Your message to me; may I reflect on the outcome of their lives and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever! Keep me from being carried away by all sorts of strange teachings. For it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not ritual meals, which have never benefited those who participated in them. I have an altar that those who serve in the tabernacle have no right to eat from. For the bodies of those animals whose blood the high priest brings into the sanctuary as an offering for sin are burned outside the camp. Therefore, to sanctify the people by His own blood, Jesus also suffered outside the camp. I must go out to Him, then, outside the camp, bearing the abuse He experienced. For here on earth I have no lasting city, but I seek the city that is to come. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz
  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luc)
  • Keith Rast
  • Travis & Consuela Sauer (Mikayla, Christian, Donte, Cheyenne, Sera, Ella, Thomas)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for outreaches & service projects

  • Creative strategies
  • Volunteers
  • Anointing of the Holy Spirit
  • Believers working together in unity
  • Provision of necessary resources
  • Salvation for people reached

and whenever you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear this command behind you: “This is the way. Walk in it.” – Isaiah 30:21 (HCSB)
