Why were the synagogue attendees amazed by Jesus’ teaching? What was Jesus’ response to the leper’s request?

Do I trust in the authority of the amazing Word of God and submit myself to it? Do I make sure to preface my prayer requests with “if You are willing”?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, I, too, am amazed by the wonderful power and teaching of Jesus and of His Spirit through the authors of Scripture. I humbly confess before You that too often I do not recognize the authority of Your Word. I now ask for strength by Your grace to be submissive and obedient to it. I also ask that You would remind me to always ask for Your will to be done in all things, on earth as it is in heaven. I pray all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, my coming King! Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)
  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for the salvation of the lost

  • Readiness to repent
  • Hearts prepared to hear God’s voice
  • Deep dissatisfaction and unrest with life without Him
  • Godly influences

Don’t work for the food that perishes but for the food that lasts for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal of approval on Him. – John 6:37 (HCSB)
