Revelation 1:1-8

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What promise is given to the one who will read and follow the book of Revelation? How does this passage speak to those who are skeptical that Jesus ever claimed to be God?

Am I willing to study Revelation and obey it in order to claim God’s promised blessing? Do I truly believe that Jesus is the all-powerful God?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Thank You for the Revelation of Jesus Christ, which You gave Him to show His servants what must happen. Thank You for making it clear by sending Your angel to Your servant John, who then testified to everything that he saw concerning the word of God and the testimony about Jesus Christ. I claim Your promise of blessing to the one who reads the words of this prophecy aloud, and to those who hear and obey the things written in it, because the time is near! I thank You for the grace and peace that are mine through Jesus Christ — the faithful witness, the firstborn from among the dead, the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Jesus, the one who loves me and has set me free from my sins at the cost of His own blood and has appointed me into His kingdom as a priest serving His God and Father — to Him be the glory and the power for ever and ever! May I remain watchful for the Day when He returns with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him, and all the tribes on the earth will mourn because of Him. This will certainly come to pass! I believe that Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, — the one who is, and who was, and who is still to come — the All-Powerful! Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus, Jack)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover
  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Darrell & Fralina Leatham

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

  • Marriages/families
  • Finances
  • Work/life balance
  • Relationships, good friendships

Now to the one who works, pay is not considered as a gift, but as something owed. But to the one who does not work, but believes on Him who declares the ungodly to be righteous, his faith is credited for righteousness. – Romans 4:4-5 (HCSB)
