How do we know what love is? How do we show that we love God?

How often do I thank God for His love? How do I show that I love God and my brothers and sisters in Christ?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father God, Help me to love Your people, because love is from You, and everyone who loves has been fathered by You and knows You. The person who does not love does not know You, because You are love. By this Your love is revealed in us: that You sent Your one and only Son into the world so that we may live through Him. In this is love: not that I have loved You, but that You loved me and sent Your Son to be the atoning sacrifice for my sins. Because You so loved me, I also ought to love my fellow Christians. Though no one has seen You at any time, if I love Your children, You reside in me, and Your love is perfected in me. This is how I can know that I reside in You and You in me: You have given Your Holy Spirit. And I testify that I believe You sent Your Son to be the Savior of the world. You said if anyone confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God resides in him and he in God. So I have come to know and to believe the love that You have in me. You are love, and the one who resides in love resides in You, and You reside in him. By this love is perfected with me, so that I may have confidence in the day of judgment, because just as Jesus is, so also am I in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears punishment has not been perfected in love. We love because You loved us first. Help me to show that same love to Your people, because if anyone says “I love God” and yet hates his fellow Christian, he is a liar, because the one who does not love his fellow Christian whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. So give me the grace to obey the commandment I have from You: that the one who loves God should love his fellow Christian too. I ask this in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the honor both now and on that eternal day. Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz
  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luc)
  • Keith Rast
  • Travis & Consuela Sauer (Mikayla, Christian, Donte, Cheyenne, Sera, Ella, Thomas)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for Public Service Professionals (Firefighters, law enforcement, and medical personnel)…

  • Strength to serve well
  • Safety/health
  • Salvation for lost & ministry opportunities for saved
  • Strong family/marriage relationships
  • Strong, God-honoring friendships

God–His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is pure. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. For who is God besides the LORD? And who is a rock? Only our God. – 2 Samuel 22:31-32 (HCSB)
