Luke 9:1-27

Why were the Apostles able to preach with power and perform miracles (1)? Who did different people say Jesus was? What must one do to be a follower of Jesus (23)?

Do I try to do mighty things for God in my own power, or do I trust Him to empower me for whatever task He requires, large or small? Who do I say Jesus is? Do I “take up my cross daily” to follow Him?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear God my Father, Remind me that unless You give me the power and authority, my work is worthless. May I do Your work in Your power for Your purpose! No matter what the crowds or leaders or intellectuals might say, I declare that Jesus is God’s Messiah, the only Savior of mankind! Help me to take up my cross daily, die to myself, and follow Him. I ask this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus, Jack)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover
  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Darrell & Fralina Leatham

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for our national leaders

  • God’s anointing on them and a desire in them to follow Him
  • For Jesus to once again be Lord and King over our nation
  • For the president and cabinet to seek after God
  • For judges to rule justly and righteously
  • For senators & representatives to pass godly legislation and block sinful bills
  • That our government would protect its citizens and punish evildoers

Some take pride in chariots, and others in horses, but we take pride in the name of Yahweh our God. They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand firm. – Psalm 20:7-8 (HCSB)
