Luke 9:28-62

What did Peter, James and John see when they awoke from their sleep? What did Jesus teach about the way His followers should treat children? What do the last six verses of this chapter teach regarding following Jesus?

Do I “sleep” through life, or have I awakened to the glory of Christ? Do I remember that welcoming a child in Jesus’ name is the same as welcoming Jesus? Am I willing to go without luxuries to follow Christ; to put Him above all others?

Dear Father, Help me to more fully see and recognize the glory of Christ. Remind me to treat children with love and kindness, for Jesus said that whatever I do for them, I do for Him. May I never put material things above following Christ, and may I never let my relationships with others get in the way of my relationship with Him. I ask this for Jesus’ sake and in His name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Tris & Chris Miller
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael & Jenn Morgan

  • Christian Pro-Life Ministries in Idaho (Idaho Chooses Life, Stanton Health Care, etc)

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for our state leaders…

  • Governor & his advisers
  • Judges
  • state senators and representatives
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

Some take pride in chariots, and others in horses, but we take pride in the name of Yahweh our God. They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand firm. – Psalm 20:7-8 (HCSB)
