Luke 16

How can we tell if we’ll be able to handle the really big issues and responsibilities of life (10)? Why must we be careful not to let money become too important (13)? Why doesn’t God let departed Christians come back and witness to their loved ones (30-31)?

Am I faithful in the little things with which I’m entrusted? Do I focus on treasures or on the One who gives all good things? Do I expect God to show me some incredible sign before I’ll believe Him and act on it, or is His word enough for me?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Help me not to take the little things for granted. Rather, help me to remember to be faithful in the little things to train me to be faithful when I’m entrusted with much. May I never put money above or at the same level as You. Help me to view money as a way of furthering Your purposes, and keep me from loving it and letting it become my master. For no one can serve two masters. You alone, Lord, are my Master. May I never have a heart that demands You show me a sign before I’m willing to believe You and obey you. You’ve given me more than everything I need in Your Word, and I believe it! In Jesus’ name, Amen

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)
  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.
