Luke 18:28-43

In the scope of eternity, is it really a sacrifice to follow Christ? What did the blind man do when the people around him told him to stop crying out for Jesus?

Do I focus so much on earthly things that I forget Jesus said I would be repaid many times over in eternity for whatever I gave up for Him on earth? Do I cry out to Jesus until I hear from Him, or do I let others convince me to quit “bothering” Him?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in heaven, Help me stay focused on the things that matter forever. When I start to hesitate following Christ because it means I may have to give up something, help me to remember His promise that there is no one who has left something for Your kingdom who will not receive many times more at this time and in the life to come. Give me an attitude like the blind beggar, who kept calling out for Jesus even when others told him to be quiet. In the name of Christ Jesus I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz
  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luc)
  • Keith Rast
  • Travis & Consuela Sauer (Mikayla, Christian, Donte, Cheyenne, Sera, Ella, Thomas)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for Teachers & Administrators & School Boards

  • Godly curriculum
  • God’s wisdom in teaching and leading
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • Ability to inspire a love of truth and learning

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted. – Luke 14:11 (HCSB)
