What “new” teaching did Jesus give regarding observing the Sabbath? What did He do before choosing the 12 Apostles? What did He teach about the way His followers should act toward their enemies?

Do I follow the letter of the law or the Spirit who gave it? Do I spend time earnestly seeking God’s guidance before making big decisions? Do I harbor grudges and seek vengeance, or do I love and pray for those who mistreat me?

Dear Father, I confess that too often I follow the letter of the law in an effort to exhibit a form of godliness, while ignoring the spirit of the law and the Spirit who gave it–and I confess that as sin. I also am too often self-sufficient, thinking I can handle things by myself. Keep me from trusting in my own resources and remind me to come to You for wisdom, guidance, and provision. Give me a heart that is quick to forgive and give me the will to follow through and love and pray for those who mistreat me and are my enemies, for Christ loves me and gave Himself for me so that I could be forgiven. I ask this for Jesus’ sake and in His name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Tris & Chris Miller
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael & Jenn Morgan

  • Christian Pro-Life Ministries in Idaho (Idaho Chooses Life, Stanton Health Care, etc)

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for single adults…

  • To embrace Christ as their best friend and lover of their souls
  • To more fully grasp the family heart of God
  • That God will bring them Godly friends to care for and support them
  • That God will give them a peace and drive away loneliness
  • That God will provide them with meaningful work & ministry in which to use their gifts

But based on His promise, we wait for the new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness will dwell. Therefore, dear friends, while you wait for these things, make every effort to be found at peace with Him without spot or blemish. – 2 Peter 3:13-14 (HCSB)
