Luke 6:39-7:10

In what way does Jesus instruct us to be careful about advising/counseling/judging others? How can we tell if Jesus is really our Lord or if we just say that He is (6:46-49)? What did the centurion do that so impressed Jesus?

Do I tell others how to act and live when I am as bad or worse than they? Do I live like Jesus is my Lord, obeying the things He said, or do I just call Him Lord? Do I have enough faith to amaze Jesus?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, I ask that you would give me a heart, mind, and will that seek after You in faith and obedience. Keep me from criticizing and condemning others, especially when there are unresolved issues in my own life. I don’t want to just give lip service to Christ, I want to live in a way that demonstrates He really is Lord of my life. Give me faith like the centurion, a faith so strong that even Jesus was amazed by it. In the name of Christ Jesus I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz
  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luc)
  • Keith Rast
  • Travis & Consuela Sauer (Mikayla, Christian, Donte, Cheyenne, Sera, Ella, Thomas)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for orphans and children in foster care…

  • that they would come to know the adoptive Father-heart of God
  • that they would be positively influenced by Christian workers
  • that God would bring Christian friends alongside them
  • that they would come to salvation
  • that they would be adopted by godly parents

But based on His promise, we wait for the new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness will dwell. Therefore, dear friends, while you wait for these things, make every effort to be found at peace with Him without spot or blemish. – 2 Peter 3:13-14 (HCSB)
