Lamentations 1

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

Why was Judah (and specifically Jerusalem) being judged by God (5,8)? What does the writer point out regarding this judgment (18)?

Do I have many “lovers” (people or things) that I love more than God and that draw me away from Him? Do I affirm the Lord’s justice and righteousness when I go through chastising after I sin?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear God my Father, Keep me from a heart that strays from You and puts other things or people above You in my life. May I keep from rebelling and sinning against You, but if I do, may I not despise any discipline You choose to dole out–rather, may I use it as an opportunity to grow closer to You and affirm Your righteousness, justice, mercy, and grace. I ask this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus, Jack)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover
  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Darrell & Fralina Leatham

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for your neighbors…

  • That God would provide opportunities for you to minister to them
  • That unbelievers would receive Christ as Savior and Lord
  • For their marriages / family relationships
  • For their finances / employment
  • Any specific needs of which you’re aware

Know that the LORD has set apart the faithful for Himself; the LORD will hear when I call to Him. – Psalm 4:3 (HCSB)
