Lamentations 3:1-41

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What was Jeremiah’s state of mind as he wrote verses 1-20? How did his perspective change in verses 21-41?

Do I sometimes feel like Jeremiah in the first half of today’s passage? Do I trust the second half of the passage to be true, even when it doesn’t feel that way–even when I can’t fathom how it could possibly be that way?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, Sometimes I feel forsaken, abused, and hopeless. Help me to remember that, in Christ, regardless of my circumstances I remain Your child. Your faithful love will not allow me to perish. Your mercies never end. They are new every morning, for great is Your faithfulness! You are my portion–my eternal inheritance in Christ–therefore I put my hope in You. You are good to those who wait for You and seek You. Help me to bear whatever yoke You give me and to wait patiently for Your deliverance, whether in this life or eternity. May I bear Your discipline in silence and hope, without complaint. Thank You that any suffering that comes my way will not last forever, and You will show compassion according to Your abundant, faithful love, and I will dwell with You forever! In the name of Christ Jesus I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz
  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luc)
  • Keith Rast
  • Travis & Consuela Sauer (Mikayla, Christian, Donte, Cheyenne, Sera, Ella, Thomas)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for our national leaders

  • God’s anointing on them and a desire in them to follow Him
  • For Jesus to once again be Lord and King over our nation
  • For the president and cabinet to seek after God
  • For judges to rule justly and righteously
  • For senators & representatives to pass godly legislation and block sinful bills
  • That our government would protect its citizens and punish evildoers

Know that the LORD has set apart the faithful for Himself; the LORD will hear when I call to Him. – Psalm 4:3 (HCSB)
