Luke 23

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

In view of Luke 20:22-25, how much credence do the first two accusations in verse 2 have? Spend some time contemplating the death of Christ as recorded in today’s passage.

Have I been guilty of making false accusations against someone? Do I truly appreciate the great sacrifice Jesus made for me?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, I am amazed that on the basis of the false accusations of unjust men, Jesus was given the death sentence. I am even more amazed that He allowed Himself to be tortured, humiliated, and murdered, and that in the midst of it all, He asked You to forgive the very people doing these heinous things to Him. And still more amazing to me is the fact that He did this to save me. Truly, this man was and is the Son of God, and truly, Your grace is amazing! Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Theresa Daniels
  • Travis & Hali Davidson (Andrew, Maddy)
  • Brandon & Lindsey Dockins (Gianna)
  • Patti Doty
  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Mattea, Joseph, Joshua, Sophia, Jonathan)

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for marriages in our community…

  • that Christ-like love would be exhibited
  • for good communication between spouses
  • for unity in finances
  • salvation for non-believing spouses
  • that they would balance work and home life
  • that Godly friends and mentors would come alongside them.

Know that the LORD has set apart the faithful for Himself; the LORD will hear when I call to Him. – Psalm 4:3 (HCSB)
